Hello my name is Mae Clews and I am in class year 5.1.

Last January I took part in a National Athletics competition and I placed second place in the Javelin throw ball. Following that I attended several training and was chosen together with other winners to participate in a competition in Viterbo in Rome. We flew in April as a team with our coaches and stayed in the historic area of Viterbo. I was very excited when we boarded the bus which took us to “Campo Sportivo Di Viterbo”. Each participant took part in four disciplines. These were the 600m run, 50m sprint, long jump and 1kg throw ball. Besides the Maltese group there were students from different Italian regions and even from London and Spain. One of the Maltese girls placed first overall while as a Maltese group we were given a trophy for best participation in all events.

This was one of the most exciting experiences in my life and I will remember it for a long time. We were a very happy group on our return on the plane back to Malta.
