Between the 23rd and 27th April students at STMC Marsaskala Primary took part in different activities to celebrate World Book Day.
Weird Write-All
Students were divided in groups and presented with a random title. A member of each group started by writing a short paragraph to make up a story related to the title given. The paper was then passed on to another member of the group who wrote another paragraph. This continued until every student in the group has had a turn in writing a paragraph. When all the groups were ready, a member of each group reads the story to the whole class.

Reading spinners
Ms Camilleri devised a set of reading spinners which were being used at different stages of a story-telling session. They were used to check on the students’ understanding, as well as to get them more engaged. Students took turns to use the spinner and answer the question which they got.

Prediction Challenge
Students were divided in groups. A student from each group read to the rest of the group the first chapter of a short story. Students were provided with a sheet on which to write what they thought what was going to happen. Then they had to continue reading and see who predicted or who was close to predicting the right ending.
‘What are we reading’ wall
4.2 students were encouraged to draw book covers of the books which they were reading. A display was put up in the school corridor.
