Dear Parents / Guardians
I would like to welcome you to this scholastic year 2019-2020. I am truly honoured to be serving as a Head of School at Marsaskala St Anne Primary School. We’ve been working hard all summer in order to ensure that your children are given an exciting and enriching learning experience.
This year, the school will be focusing on three priorities:
- strengthening our learner-centred approach by focusing more on students’ ability to review their own work and that of others;
- continuing our plan of becoming a dyslexia-friendly school – this year, we will be working towards sharpening learners’ comprehension skills;
- promoting the wellbeing of both learners and staff.
We believe that through the choice of these targets, we will be helping all learners towards developing their critical skills, while helping them feel good about themselves.
As a school, one of our main aims is to make all learners feel safe. A new arrival and dismissal procedure will be put into place as from the first day of school. The procedure is further explained in the additional note attached to this letter. I invite you to follow the new procedures so as to ensure a smooth transition into the scholastic year. Moreover, please ensure that you bring your child/children to school on time. Being on time is not only a sign of respect, but it also helps children and teaching staff settle down better for the day ahead. Habitual latecomers will be reported to the relevant authorities after a number of warning issued by the school.
Attached to this letter, you will also find the school calendar for Term 1 and some additional notes. We will try our best not to change any of the set dates as we appreciate you all might have other commitments. However, if a change needs to be done, you will be notified in due time. We are planning on a more efficient way to create and diplay the school calendar. We will be informing you when we convert to the new system.
While I thank you always for your cooperation, I hope this scholastic year is one full of positive experiences for all the school community.
Kind Regards
RITIENNE BORG SALIBA
Head of School
