Year 2.2 – Fire fighters in class

The Year 2.2 pupils are exploring a new theme: People Who Help Us! The children learned about various jobs one of them being firefighters. Two firefighters visited our classroom. The pupils themselves prepared a set of questions and interviewed the firefighters. The firefighters explained what their job entails and the different challenges they encounter. They also explained the importance in taking necessary safety procedures in cases of emergency.

After visiting our classroom, we all proceeded to the school yard and there was a fire truck! The firefighters demonstrated and showed us how the different equipment works. They also dressed up in their suits and showed us their full uniform. Finally, the children had the opportunity to use the water hose. This was a very interesting and educational activity and the children were intrigued by this heroic job. We would like to thank the Civil Protection Unit for accepting our invitation as well as the two firefighters who came to our class.
